"Rumble At Waikiki" from the archives of John Blair is a fabulous package. Containing a whopping 52 tracks and a 48 page booklet, this CD is generous in all respects. John Blair, a dazzling name in the Californian music scene, who once made his first recordings with bluegrass music, played rockabilly with Ray Campi and rocked the surf scene at the end of the 1970s. He is an author, who wrote liner notes to various releases of Rhino Records and other labels, as well as, a number of books and discographies about American surfing and hot rod music of the late 50s and 60s. The tracks sum up Blair's whole career with elements of bluegrass, surf, exotica and rock 'n' roll. With a release like this there is no excuse not to ride the wave and rediscover the joy of the riff.
