The Aqua Velvets - Tiki Beat

"Tiki Beat" is indeed moody and loaded with lush, exotic guitar tone, yet some full-tilt, big board surf rockers are onboard. The bass and percussion sounds are some of the best on any Aqua Velvet CD. This effect drenched disc could've been titled "Tremolo Beat". It's a more ambient free-form, jam-style, surf-twang guitar album. Sonically, it's got more presence with a very up-front mix. If you like surf guitar, you won't be disappointed in "Tiki Beat", even if you're not a tikiphile. It's got a nice variety of surf tunes, both fast and slow, and is a great mix for parties. The swirling tones are so good that it begs hearing again and again. These guys are taking surf music to a new level!
