The Blasters - Fun on Saturday Night

There are some great rockabilly tunes here and it's good to hear Phil playing his harp and doing some yodeling again. Phil Alvin has certainly kept the flame alive. "Fun on Saturday Night" is a full-fledged return to the "classic blasters sound" (which in the words of Bob Dylan "was magic"!), in both style and song selection. It is a propulsive mix of rocking R&B, Chicago blues and country/hillbilly played as only the Blasters can with a few special treats mixed in. These well chosen songs are, at the same time, nostalgic and fresh. This album is smoking, from start to finish and is one of those that will grow on a listener and stand the test of time for years to come.
