Aloha Screwdriver’s debut album, “No Way Out”, is an absurdly analog 8-song CD recorded live to tape with no edits, no overdubs, and no room for mistakes. No one records music this way anymore, and for good reason – it’s a pain. The end result sounds as unique as the band – reverb-drenched surf rock played at a blistering speed. All songs are original compositions with the exception of “Cecilia Ann”. The artwork is noteworthy as well. The chick with tats fits perfectly. This disc has a uniquely saturated, old school sound that sonically sits right alongside ’60s recordings of Dick Dale, but calls itself out with its punk-tempo pacing and rock-inspired drumming.
