Mark Tinson has collected some of the finest guitarists from Australia and way beyond for his “Surfcats” CD. “I happened to meet Martin Cilia from the Atlantics, Australia’s biggest surf export in the ‘60s,” Tinson said. In 2014 Tinson invited Cilia, who now plays with Mental As Anything, to travel to Newcastle to record a track for “Surf Cats”. “It was like having a masterclass. He is arguably one of the foremost surf guitarists in the world,” Tinson said. Tinson then scoured the globe for guitarists to play parts on the album. Mark is a great catalyst on this CD, and it turns out to be a welcome addition to the world of instrumental surf music.
