Earl Gaines - 24 Hours A Day

Your Price:

CD Information

Earl Gaines’ (1935 – 2009) “24 Hours A Day” comprises nine scattershot singles from 1958-1962 and his long-out-of-print 1966 LP “The Best of Luck To You”. There’s an unmistakably sweet, slow, Southern stroll to these songs that put them right in line with the Louisiana R&B of the time. In addition, Gaines had a high, clear voice that put one in mind of Johnny Adams. Both sides of Earl’s HBR charter may be found here and this record combines his Champion output with the Jimmy Beck orchestra from 1958 to 1960 and all sides from his lone HBR album. Gaines’ power definitely comes through! This super soul release shines further light on Nashville as a blues/R&B town.
